Accessible Transportation

The Office on Aging provides medical transportation primarily to individuals over 60 years of age that are wheelchair bound or that have no other means of transportation. Transportation services are based on the income of the entire household and federal guidelines for fee rates. We do not bill insurance companies. Any fees accrued are the responsibility of the individual served.

Seniors in the Rocky Mount town limits that do not have access to another means of transportation can sign up to be added to the fixed transportation route if they live within the service area. The scheduled shopping day is the 2nd and 4th Tuesday of each month. Stops such as the grocery store, pharmacy, post office, or farmer’s market can be accessed via this program. Recreational shopping is not included in this program. You must request a pick-up if you are not already on the route list at least two days in advance.
