Accessible Transportation

Iona provides a Grocery Shuttle.  A regularly scheduled round-trip complimentary shuttle to the grocery store for older adults residing at certain apartment buildings in Northwest DC is provided. 

Options include paratransit and taxi voucher programs.  Program is called Group Grocery Shopping in Alexandria and Senior Loops in Arlington.

Greater Washington DC Transportation Resource Guide includes information about the Senior Metro SmarTrip Card for individuals who are 65 years of age and older.  The resource guide provides a list of wheelchair accessible taxis.  If in a wheelchair, riders are able to stay in their chair and roll independently onto some vehicles.  If you need assistance, have a large motorized wheelchair, or are going to an appointment that requires you have a ride or driver to accompany you, please see Transportation for Riders Needing Assistance on the Resource Guide.
