Who We Are

The goal of the City of Fairfax Transportation Division is to provide a safe, and functional multi-modal network of sidewalks, bicycle paths, public transportation options, and roadways within the City of Fairfax.  There are many options for transportation for senior citizens and persons with disabilities.

CUE Bus provides regularly schedule transportation. All CUE buses are fully accessible for persons with disabilities.

City Wheels is a City of Fairfax program that provides alternative transportation within the City for city residents who are disabled and find it difficult or impossible to use conventional bus service. City Wheels is a curb-to-curb (not a door-to-door) service provided through private taxicabs.

Fastran is available for elderly, and disabled residents for transportation to Senior Centers and medical appointments.

MetroAccess is a shared-ride, door-to-door paratransit service for people who cannot use public transportation due to a disability. It is operated by the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA). Any City resident who is certified as disabled by MetroAccess may avail of this service for trips outside the City of Fairfax city limits.

Seniors On-the-Go is a transportation program that helps moderate-income seniors. Eligible seniors travel by taxicab affordably, safely, and independently with the purchase of discounted taxi fares.  To participate in the program, you must meet all of the following requirements: must be 65 years of age or older, must be a Fairfax County or the City of Fairfax resident, must have an annual income of $40,000 or less for an individual OR $50,000 or less for married couples.

Taxi Access is a transportation program that helps persons with disabilities. An eligible person with a disability may travel by taxicab affordably, safely, and independently with the purchase of discounted taxi fare.  To participate in this program, you must meet both of the following requirements: must be currently registered with MetroAccess and must be a Fairfax County or City of Fairfax resident.
