Dementia Care Central

Who We Are

There is a great need for more education and support tools for caregivers. There are currently over seven million Americans living with dementia (such as Alzheimer's disease), and most of them are cared for at home by a loved one. The negative impact of caregiving for someone with dementia has been well documented: caregivers’ physical and mental health often decline as they struggle to care for their loved ones.

However, research has proven that psychoeducational interventions are effective in reducing caregiver stress, depression, and burden. Thus, educating caregivers about dementia and providing tips and tools to assist with caregiving should ultimately improve outcomes for both informal caregivers and their loved ones. Outcomes may include improved quality of caregiver-care recipient interactions, caregiver health and mental health, and care recipient long-term-care placement and health status. This is the ultimate goal of DementiaCareCentral.com.

Dementia Care Central is a resource center for dementia caregivers, and more! There is already a lot of information about dementia on the Internet, but it is not always well organized and can be overwhelming. We have identified, reviewed, and linked to the best of these resources and added some original content as well.

You do not have to create an account to use Dementia Care Central, but if you do then you can access all the interactive features and even create your own personal webpage – and it’s all free.
