Memory Care, Sitter and Barfoot Veterans Care Center, Statewide

Administered by the Virginia Department of Veteran's Services (VDVS), Sitter and Barfoot Veterans Care Center (SBVCC) offers a 40 bed secure Alzheimer's and other dementias unit with two enclosed courtyards. The facility offers Long Term Care and Short Term Rehab and was built specifically for Virginia's Veterans. The Memory Care Facility assists residents with dementia with bathing, grooming, meal preparation, dressing and more.

The facility is located on the same campus as McGuire Veteran's Administration Hospital in Richmond, Virginia. The Care Center provides programs catered toward Alzheimer's residents. Programming includes entertainment, music and pet therapy, board games, exercise and a health and wellness program to keep residents busy and active. All rooms are disability accessible and include a roll in shower. All beds are dually certified for Medicare and Medicaid.

All therapies, including physical, occupational and speech, are offered on site. The facility includes a pharmacy, library with Internet cafe, game room, large rehabilitation gym, enclosed courtyard, walking trails and home cooked meals served in the spacious dining hall.
