Who We Are
A program of Horizon Behavioral Health, the Respite Program focuses on the caregiver of the child served. Respite provides caregivers a planned, temporary break from their caregiving responsibilities. Respite may be provided in the family’s home, the the home of a qualified respite provider, or at a center based location, depending on the needs and preferences of the child and family receiving services. The respite schedule varies according to individual needs, site and provider availability, and demand.
Respite services may include assistance with personal care, medications, meals, snacks, monitoring health status and physical condition, supervision to ensure safety, assistance or supervision to participate in recreational activities, and activities to meet the objectives of a child’s individual service plan. The Respite Program uses a person centered approach that empowers and supports each individual.
Licensed respite providers will be contracted and will be supervised by the contracting agency. To ensure quality service, members of the respite team may observe contracted providers while they provide respite service.
