Who We Are
A program of Horizon Behavioral Health, Emergency Services for children and adolescents offers:
- Intake Services are the initial assessment and diagnostic stage for all child and adolescent services. Intakes are available to any child or adolescent who is in need of additional services. After intake, referrals are made to the appropriate service.
- Crisis Intervention Services are provided when a child or adolescent presents a danger to self or others. Suicide and homicide risk assessments, Temporary Detention Orders (TDOs), and pre-screenings for services are performed in both a hospital setting and at the Child and Family Center. Twenty-four-hour services are available through on-call personnel, at the Lynchburg General Hospital Emergency Room, and at Bedford Memorial Emergency Room.
- Case Management and Hospital Liaison Services are available when a child or adolescent is hospitalized in a state facility and is in need of service coordination to return to the community.
