Senior Psychiatric Program

Centra Senior Psychiatric Program treats adults 60 years of age and older who are in crisis and in need of immediate stabilization. Short-term psychiatric treatment is provided in an acute inpatient setting. Besides crisis stabilization, the program provides diagnostic evaluation, focused therapy and group counseling. Patients are admitted to a safe and secure environment at Centra Virginia Baptist Hospital. The average length of stay is 10 days. Treatment is provided for dementia, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, depression anxiety, and other acute/chronic psychiatric conditions.
