Who We Are

The Hampton Health Department offers a special supplemental food program for women, infants, and children, often referred to as WIC. The program provides nutrition education and free supplemental foods to eligible persons. The nutrition education is accomplished through individual and group counseling sessions. The foods provided are intended to supplement the existing diet with important nutrients. Food distribution is made through the issuance of checks redeemable at participating grocery stores.

WIC eligibility is determined by: Virginia Residents who meet income guidelines and have a nutritional need. WIC serves the following groups: infants, children under 5 years of age, pregnant and postpartum women, and breastfeeding women.
