Centra Specialty Hospital (CSH)

Centra Specialty Hospital (CSH) is a long term acute care hospital that provides clinical services to those patients who require an extended stay in an acute care setting.  The hospital is located on the 5th floor of Centra Virginia Baptist Hospital's campus.



Centra Specialty Hospital (CSH) specializes in the care of patients with complex extended medical needs.  An individualized care plan is designed for each patient by a physician-led team.  Patients are referred to CSH for continuation of acute medical care because the severity and complexity of the medical condition prevents them from being discharged home or transferred to a rehab unit or skilled nursing facility.  CSH offers an environment and health care setting that allows the patient time to heal.  The treatment objective is stabilization, treatment, rehab and recovery to optimum functional ability.



Clinical services can include pulmonary disease; multi-trauma; post-op complications; cardiac disease; oncology; acute renal failure; gastrointestinal disease; and neuromuscular disease (ALS).
