Who We Are
At the Hanover County Community Services Board, RAFT House (Recovery, Acceptance, Friendship and Teamwork) provides services, such as day treatment and recovery and pre-employment training for up to 40 adults with chronic mental illness.
RAFT is a psychosocial rehabilitation clubhouse program that provides services to adults with serious mental illness or substance abuse . It assists those persons who need to establish a daily routine, who need to develop a broader social network, or who need to develop life or pre-vocational skills in order to live independently or to maintain employment.
Each consumer who joins the program is expected to participate in activities and work in one of the program's work units (kitchen, clerical or environmental). In this way, they help maintain the facility's operation.
Members set their own goals and staff work with them toward achievement of those goals. This work may include teaching skills like computer Internet use or word processing, teaching cooking or cleaning skills, budgeting, gardening, or job application and interview activities.
