Who We Are
AgrAbility Virginia assists farmers, farmworkers, and their families who identify with illness, injury, or disability to work safely and productively with dignity through education, rehabilitative services, and assistive technology. AgrAbility Virginia services are funded through USDA NIFA and are available at no cost.
They offer support services to farmers that include, but are not limited to:
- Developing educational resources and trainings for farmers, farmworkers, and families
- Providing disability advocacy
- Identifying assistive technology for accessibility and mobility
- Coordinating community services and outreach
- Connecting farmers to funding sources
They support a wide diversity of farmers across all farming communities, such as:
- Small and mid-size farms
- Rural and urban farm settings
- Beginning farmers
- Military veteran farmers
- Socially disadvantaged famers
- Limited resource farmers
They address a wide variety of disabling conditions in agriculture, including, but not limited to:
- Arthritis
- Spinal cord injuries/paralysis
- Back impairments
- Amputations
- Brain/head injury
- Visual/hearing impairments
- Cerebral palsy
- Stress and anxiety
