Who We Are
Fredericksburg City Health Department is part of the Rappahannock Health District. The goals of the Health Department are to promote health, prevent disease and protect the environment. Services are provided in local health department clinics, schools, homes, and other sites within the community. Fees are based on a sliding scale to individuals and children who are eligible. Services include:
- Clinics - Child Development, Communicable Disease Prevention & Control, Family Planning, HIV/AIDS Testing, Immunizations, Breast and Cervical Cancer Early Detection Program, STD Testing and Treatment, TB Screening, Well Child Clinic, Refugee Services
- Environmental Health Programs - Onsite Sewage & Water Program, Food Protection, Rabies Prevention, etc.
- Emergency Preparedness & Response
- Disease Prevention - elimination, prevention, and control of communicable diseases (HIV/AIDS, viral hepatitis, STDs, and tuberculosis)
- WIC - a special, supplemental nutrition program for women, infants, and children sponsored by the US Department of Agriculture.
- "Every Women's Life" Program provides free screening for breast and cervical cancer for under-served women who are low-income and have no insurance or are under-insured.
