Virginia Tax Information, Forms and Assistance

The Virginia Department of Taxation assists individual taxpayers and businesses with information pertaining to Virginia state taxes. Customer Service for walk-in customers is available at 1957 Westmoreland Street, Richmond,  Monday through Friday from 8:30 AM until 4:30 PM.



The website has a Virginia Tax Policy Library, now called "Laws, Rules and Decisions" with electronic representations of the public policy documents related to all tax types administered by the Department of Taxation. Call the main customer service line for contact information for your local area.  MilTax is an approved tax preparation software that provides free tax services for members of the military.



Individual income tax filing online services are available for Virginia income tax filers.  Through the online services, taxpayers can send a secure and confidential email through secure messaging, make a return, extension or estimated tax payment and check refund status through the Where's My Refund application. Tax forms are available for download on the website.
