Who We Are

The Fairfax County Health Department's Division of Environmental Health protects and improves public health by preventing, minimizing, and eliminating exposure to biological, chemical, or physical hazards through a variety of regulatory activities, including permitting and inspecting businesses and public facilities. Environmental Health Specialists also investigate reports of public health and safety menaces anywhere in the community including residential, commercial, and industrial areas. In addition, the Health Department conducts mosquito and tick surveillance and a broad range of educational activities.
