Who We Are
The Louisa County Health Department works in collaboration with the Virginia Department of Health’s Division of Surveillance and Investigation (DSI) to provide surveillance, investigation, and follow-up of communicable diseases that are reportable by medical providers and laboratories. This includes:
- Community outreach, education, and in-service trainings
- Sexually transmitted disease (STD) treatment, counseling, and referral
- HIV and Hepatitis C testing
- Childhood and adult immunizations, counseling, and referral
- Initial health assessment of all newly arriving immigrants with refugee or asylum status through the Virginia Newcomers Health Program (VNHP)
- TB case management with daily observed therapy
- Rabies-related services
