Who We Are
The Prince George County Health Department offers services for the prevention, investigation, and control of communicable diseases. These services involve screening, diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up of all persons exposed to specific diseases such as tuberculosis, sexually transmitted diseases (STDs), HIV/AIDS, foodborne illnesses, and more. Information is given regarding prevention from exposure, recognizing symptoms, and obtaining treatment. Tuberculin skin test, free in some instances, chest x-rays, evaluation, and monitoring of TB cases and contacts are available. Anonymous HIV testing sites can be accessed by calling the Virginia Department of Health and AIDS Hotline at 1-800-533-4148 Information on medication and other assistance is available for low-income persons.
