Who We Are

This service provides one-to-one assistance to adolescents, aged 16 years or older, who meet criteria for Serious Emotional Disturbance (SED).  Mental Health Support Services assist youth in maintaining stability in their home and community by providing skills training such as independent living skills, anger management skills, impulse control and social skills.

Serves residents of the cities of Roanoke and Salem and the counties of Botetourt, Craig and Roanoke.

Intake Process
Call the Access Center or walk in at The Burrell Center, located at 611 McDowell Avenue, Roanoke, Virginia 24016. Children and youth may walk-in for screening without an appointment between 8:30 AM and 3:00 PM Monday through Friday. There are extended walk-in hours for children and youth intakes on Tuesdays until 4:30 PM. The children and youth entrance to the Access Center is on the left side of the main Burrell Center building, highlighted by a Children’s Access Center sign. The adult entrance remains through the main Burrell doors in the center of the building.
