Who We Are
Virginia GrandDriver is an educational resource designed to provide Virginians with information and resources about staying safe and mobile on the road as they age. The program gives older Virginians and their families a place to learn more about the effects of aging on their ability to drive and to talk about all of the issues involved in this complex subject, as well as suggestions to improve driving skills and keep everyone on the road safe.
"In Virginia, 65 is a speed limit, not an age limit" and "Get Around Safe and Sound" are mottos for this program to encourage seniors over the age of 65 to remain safe and mobile. To find resources for drivers, caregivers and professionals, contact a Customer Service office. Offices are located all around the State to help with any questions about this program or any other driving related questions.
CarFit is an educational program that offers older adults the opportunity to check how well their personal vehicles "fit" them. The CarFit program also provides information and materials on community-specific resources that could enhance their safety as drivers, and/or increase their mobility in the community.
To make everyone aware of this, AARP, Virginia Department for Aging and Rehabilitative Services (DARS), DMV and AAA of Mid-Atlantic are proud to present "Virginia GrandDriver", a program that provides information about aging and its effects on driving.
