Who We Are

Fan Care is a public-private partnership administered by The Office for Aging Services of the Division for Community Living, Virginia Department for Aging and Rehabilitative Services (DARS), that helps low-income older citizens in Virginia keep cool during summer months. The program provides one free fan to elderly Virginians who live within Dominion Energy's service area and who meet eligibility requirements.

Callers will be referred to their Local Area Agency on Aging.  Local Area Agencies on Aging administer Fan care by screening applicants and distributing fans.  Call 1.800.552.3402 for a list of participating agencies or visit us at The Office for Aging Services of the Division for Community Living.

Dominion Energy is the primary sponsor, and Wal-Mart is the exclusive retailer providing fans to local Area Agencies on Aging at a discounted rate. The discount enables more seniors to be served by the program  Funds may be available to agencies to purchase air-conditioners for clients with more serious health problems.

EnergyShare Cooling for older adults is also available to assist with cooling bills. Click on the above link for more information.
