Who We Are
The Roanoke County/Salem Health Department has an Environmental Health Division that is dedicated to protecting its citizens from preventable risks to human health and the environment where they live, learn and work. Emphasis is placed on education and public awareness of health concerns, as well as on regulatory authority.
Program services include education, monitoring, and code enforcement of food sanitation, rabies control, public swimming pool sanitation, tourist establishment sanitation, onsite sewage disposal systems, wells, vector control, lead-based paint poisoning prevention, and numerous general environmental health complaints, issues, and concerns.
