Who We Are
Lewis-Gale Medical Center offers Senior Transitions Program. This program is an inpatient, behavioral health program for seniors with emotional or behavioral issues requiring short-term acute stabilization. The 15-bed specialty unit located in Low Moor, serves individuals who are referred to the program for the following conditions:
- Depression with feelings of suicide;
- Anxiety causing constant fears, paralyzing worries;
- Severe disorientation or memory impairment;
- Inability to maintain adequate nutrition which threatens vital bodily functions;
- Threatening thoughts or assaultive behavior towards others;
- Bizarre behavior;
- Emotional issues with co-occurring substance abuse;
- Inability to maintain psychiatric stabilization through outpatient treatment
Crisis intervention, psychiatric evaluation and diagnosis, medication stabilization, group therapy, family therapy and education, activity therapy, individual psychotherapy, coping skills training, discharge planning and outpatient follow-up are some of the treatments.
