Senior Farmers' Market Nutrition Program (SFMNP)

The Senior Farmers' Market Nutrition Program (SFMNP) helps eligible older adults, 60 years and older get fresh, nutritious locally grown fruit, vegetables, and cut herbs. The program also supports local farmers and farmer's markets in Virginia. The program is generally offered from June through November.

An application must be completed each year to determine eligibility for participation. Applications are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis; participation is limited. If the application is approved, the individual will receive $45.00 worth of "Farm Market Fresh for Older Adults" checks for that growing season. Each check is worth $5.00 and may be used to purchase fresh, locally grown fruit or vegetables or cut herbs from participating farmers.
