Who We Are

The Arlington County Community Services Board Discharge Assistance and Diversion Project helps individuals with serious behavioral health disorders leave state psychiatric hospitals and return to the community. Community placements range from highly specialized group homes to intensive supported living settings. Additionally, the program focuses on state hospital diversion which involves using state funds to purchase private beds at local psychiatric hospitals to divert individuals from state hospitals. This diversion component can also provide limited, short-term financial assistance to those requiring extra resources in order to be discharged.

Discharge Planning Services offers comprehensive assessments and discharge planning for individuals currently in state psychiatric hospitals ready for community placement in Arlington. Services ensure access to community behavioral health and dual diagnosis programs and help determine the type and intensity of aftercare services necessary.
