Who We Are

A program of Horizon Behavioral Health, Prevention Services programs include:

  • Too Good for Drugs (TGFD) which teaches drug prevention in a positive, age-appropriate manner.
  • Chemical Awareness and Substance Use Education (CASE) is a The four-hour Chemical Awareness and Substance Use Education program is designed to educate high school athletes testing positive for substances.
  • Families and Schools Together (FAST) is an evidenced-based, multi-family group intervention building protective factors, meaningful relationships and empowerment of parents.
  • Too Good for Violence (TGFV) teaches violence prevention.
  • Students Organized for Developing Positive Attitudes (SODA) selects and trains high school students to present the “Too Good for Drugs” curriculum to sixth graders at participating schools.
  • Community Presentations include a variety of topics aimed at reducing substance abuse through education and skill building.
  • Community Coalition Representation allows staff to actively participate on such coalitions as GIFTS (Gain Independence From Tobacco), Safe Schools, Marriage Before the Carriage, Safe Kids, Community-Wide Youth Collaborative (CWYC), School Health Advisory Boards, Partners in Prevention (PIP), Campbell Child Development Task Force, Bedford Community Coalition, Bedford Substance Abuse Task Force, School Resource Officers (SRO) Crime Prevention Meetings, Virginia Associations Of Community Services Boards (VACSB) Council, and Safe Schools Committee.

Intake Process
Call for a required appointment. Same day assessments for all ages are available Monday through Friday from 8:30AM-3:00PM. Same day assessments at the Bedford center are available on Mondays only.
