Who We Are

New River Valley Community Services offers prevention programs designed to reduce problems related to alcohol, tobacco, or other drug use, behavioral disorders, physical illness, or violence and abuse. The programs inform the general public of problems associated with these issues or they intervene with at risk or identified individuals.



Prevention programs reduce individual, family, and environmental risk factors, increase resiliency and enhance protective factors and achieve individual and comprehensive community wellness through a team or collaborative approach. These programs are proactive and evidence based, with measurable outcomes.



Prevention programs include:

  • Project Alert,
  • Project Toward No Drug Abuse (TND),
  • Too Good for Drugs and Violence (TGFD&V),
  • Too Good for Drugs (TGFD),
  • Olweus Bullying Prevention Program (OBPP);
  • Strengthening Families Program (SFP);
  • After-School Program (ASP).
